TYPE OF WIND PROSPECTION

Depending on your wind farm project, you may need to measure wind data at 50m, 60m or even 80 m levels in order to properly evaluate the turbine's power production. It is of utter importance to measure wind at the exact hub height in order to maximize development benefits and reduce economical risks.

A tilt-up tower with anemometers placed at anticipated turbine hub height is the optimal solution to directly measure the wind speed that a wind farm should experience. This direct method is a lot more efficient than the extrapolation method which consists of using shorter towers with anemometers at two lower heights to extrapolate wind shear. Studies has proven that this method can increase uncertainty of about 1% for every 10 meters, which represents an additional 3% uncertainty for 50 m to 80 m. That is a big deal!

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS

With all our years of experience in the wind assessment field, we have seen many different wind measurement applications. We have always been able to adapt our products or develop new systems in order to respond to our clients' needs.

For example, we have carried out roof type tower installations and designed towers with unconventional heights.  We have also designed a 50 m tower with the MEGA configuration in order to resist very high wind and ice conditions for a client that had a particularly difficult site where no other tower had survived before.

We can also modify the anchoring pattern of our towers in order to meet special restrictions, such as available foot print area, soil type and anchor type.

We did some special mounting booms designed to install on existing radio towers. These booms needed to be longer and therefore stronger than the conventional ones.
